Peanut Farm Beach

Peanut Farm Beach is a beautiful, hidden spot on the east coast of Sri Lanka. It is located about 25 minutes south of Arugam Bay. The beach has soft golden sand, big natural rocks, and is surrounded by thick green jungle. Unlike the busy main beaches, this place has no big hotels or tall buildings. It feels like a secret paradise where the forest meets the ocean.

↔️The Name: It is called “Peanut Farm” because there used to be many peanut trees growing here before the 2004 tsunami. 

↔️The Setup: There are two main surf points. One for beginners with easy waves and one for experts near the big rocks.

↔️Facilities: During the surfing season, there is usually a small hut that sells simple snacks and drinks. But most of the time, there are no shops.

The best way to get there is by hiring a tuk – tuk from Arugam Bay or Panama. The ride takes about 20 to 25 minutes. You will have to travel down a bumpy dirt track that goes between two army camps. It’s a fun “off-road” adventure.

Visitors get a very “chill” and natural experience. You feel like you are far away from the rest of the world. You can spend the whole day barefoot, catching waves, and watching animals. It feels very authentic and “wild” compared to the more touristy areas.

⚠️ Warning: (DO NOT) swim in the lagoon behind the beach. There are crocodiles, and it is not safe.

⚠️Elephant Safety: If you see a wild elephant, keep a safe distance and never try to feed or approach it.

⚠️Bring Water: Make sure to bring your own water and snacks because there are very few places to buy things.

⚠️Sun Protection: The sun is very strong here. So bring plenty of sunscreen and a hat.
