Nuwaragala Mountain
Nuwaragala is a very unique and mysterious mountain located in the Ampara district, near the Maha Oya area. It is not a typical pointed mountain; instead, it has a huge, flat top that looks like a giant table made of rock.
This place is hidden deep inside the forest and is famous for its ancient history. It is believed that King Saddhatissa used this mountain as a fortress or a palace long ago. The most amazing thing about Nuwaragala is the massive pool carved into the solid rock at the very top.

⚠️ Elephant Safety: Be careful, as wild elephants roam the area. Always listen to your guide's instructions.
⚠️ No Littering: Please do not leave any plastic or trash behind. Keep the forest clean.
⚠️ Start Early: It is best to start the hike early in the morning (around 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM) to avoid the midday heat.
