Ramboda Falls

Ramboda Falls is one of the most famous and tallest waterfalls in Sri Lanka. It stands about 109 meters (358 feet) high, making it the 11th highest waterfall in the country. Located in the beautiful hill country near Pussellawa on the way to Nuwara Eliya, this waterfall creates a stunning view as it cascades down a giant rock face in three main sections. It is surrounded by lush green forests and tea estates.

🌟 View from the Road: Stop your vehicle near the Ramboda Tunnel to get a quick but beautiful view of the middle section.

🌟 Hike to the Top: If you have time, take the uphill path (about 1.5 km hike) to reach the Upper Ramboda Falls. The view from there is spectacular and usually less crowded.

🌟 Visit the Bottom: Walk down through the Ramboda Falls Hotel to reach the base of the waterfall. You can feel the mist on your face here!

🌟 Take a Dip: There are natural pools at the bottom where visitors sometimes bathe, but be very careful with the water levels.

📌How to Get There 

Ramboda Falls is located directly on the A5 Highway (Peradeniya - Nuwara Eliya Road).

🚗 From Kandy: Take the bus or drive towards Nuwara Eliya. It is about 50 kmfrom Kandy. You will pass Gampola and Pussellawa towns.

🚗 From Nuwara Eliya: It is about 25 km (45 minutes drive) towards Kandy.

🚗 Landmark: Look for the Ramboda Tunnel. The waterfall is right next to it.

⚠️ Entrance: Viewing from the road is free. However, if you want to go to the very bottom platform, you might need to walk through the Ramboda Falls Hotel (they usually allow visitors).

⚠️ Footwear: If you plan to hike to the Upper Falls, wear good shoes because the path can be slippery.

⚠️ Leeches: Be careful of leeches if you walk on grassy paths, especially after rain.

⚠️ Safety: Do not climb on wet rocks near the waterfall edge. It is very dangerous.
