📌Other Important Details
📜 The Story Behind the Name: Local folklore says the spot is named after a British tea planter named Mr. Arthur. He owned a bungalow just above this area and used to stand on a stone seat under a tree to look down at the city every evening.
📜 The Modern Platform: To make it safe and spacious for everyone, a new 35 meter long concrete viewing deck was built. The original stone seat was preserved as a symbolic rock slab built right into the platform deck!
📜 Entrance Fee: Good news! There is absolutely no entry fee to visit Arthur’s Seat View Point. It is entirely free for both local and international visitors.
📜 Crowd Factor: During the peak travel season (November to May), it can get quite busy with over 1,500 visitors a day, mostly flocking there around sunset.
📌Things to Do There
💧 Take Stunning Photos: Capture the perfect panoramic shot of Kandy Lake, the golden roofed Temple of the Tooth, and the giant white Buddha statue on Bahirawakanda hill.
💧 Watch the Sunset: Sit back and watch the sky change into shades of orange, pink, and purple as the day ends.
💧 Enjoy the Night Skyline: Stay for a bit after dark to see the city lights turn on and reflect beautifully across the lake waters.
💧 Check Out Local Vendors: Browse through a few small street vendors nearby who occasionally sell quick refreshments or simple handmade souvenirs.
📌How to Get There
🛺 By Tuk - Tuk: This is the easiest and most fun option! A quick 5 to 10 minute tuk - tuk ride from the Kandy city center or Kandy Lake will bring you straight up the hill. Just agree on the price with the driver before you jump in.
🚶 By Walking: If you love a bit of adventure and exercise, you can walk up Rajapihilla Mawatha. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes from the lake, but keep in mind that the road is quite steep!
🚗 By Taxi or Car: You can easily hire a local taxi or drive your own vehicle up the winding hill road. There is limited space to park, but it is very convenient.
