The Knuckles Mountain Range

The Knuckles Mountain Range is a beautiful and rugged area in central Sri Lanka. It gets its name because the mountain peaks look like a clenched fist from far away. 🚂 By Train: Take the train to Kandy first, and then hire a vehicle or take a bus to reach the range.

⚠️ Leech Protection: There are many leeches in the grass. It is a good idea to wear “leech socks” or use salt/lime to keep them away.

⚠️ Warm Clothes: Even if it is hot at the bottom, it gets very cold and wet at the top, so bring a jacket and a raincoat.

⚠️ Get a Guide: The trails can be confusing. It is much safer to go with a local guide who knows the way.

⚠️ Keep it Clean: Please do not leave any trash behind. We must keep this beautiful forest clean and safe for animals.
