About Us

Dickwella Beach

Dickwella Beach is a beautiful, long sandy beach located in the southern part of Sri Lanka. It is tucked away in a small market town in the Matara district. Unlike many busy tourist spots, this beach is very peaceful and quiet. The water is calm because it is protected by reefs and sandbars, making it look like a large, blue swimming pool. It is a perfect place for those who want to escape the crowds and enjoy nature at its best.

📌Why Should Visit

✅ Safe Swimming: Because of the natural reefs, the waves are very gentle. It is one of the safest places to swim in the south.

✅ Peace and Quiet: If you want a beach without too many people or loud music, this is the place for you.

✅ Family Friendly: Since the water is shallow and calm, it is great for kids to play safely.

✅ Stunning Sunsets: The sunsets here are some of the most beautiful in Sri Lanka.

📌Other Important Details

↔️ Cultural Hub: Dickwella is home to the Wewurukannala Vihara, which has the largest seated Buddha statue in Sri Lanka (50 meters tall!).

↔️ Local Market: Every Saturday, there is a big local market where you can buy fresh fruits, vegetables, and even handmade lace.

📌What Experience Visitors Can Get

Visiting Dickwella feels like stepping into a slower version of life. You can wake up to the sound of birds, spend the morning swimming in clear blue water, and eat fresh “Rice and Curry” for lunch. In the evening, you can walk along the soft sand with a coconut in your hand while watching the sky turn pink and orange. It is a very relaxing and authentic Sri Lankan experience.

📌Important Tips and Guides

⚠️ Best Time to Visit: The best weather is from November to April.

⚠️ Avoid the Monsoon: It rains a lot from July to October, and the sea can get rough.

⚠️ Sun Protection: The sun is very strong, so always wear sunscreen and a hat.

⚠️ Watch the Reef: Be careful when walking near the rocks as they can be sharp.

⚠️ Respect Culture: When visiting the nearby temple, make sure to cover your shoulders and knees.
