Munneswaram Kovil

Munneswaram Kovil is a very old and famous Hindu temple in Sri Lanka. It is located in a village called Munneswaram, near the town of Chilaw. This temple is special because it has been there for more than 1,000 years!

The main temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, but it is actually a complex with five different temples. You can find shrines for Lord Ganesha, Goddess Kali, and others here. There is even a Buddhist temple inside the same area. Many people believe that Lord Rama (from the Ramayana story) prayed to Lord Shiva right here after his big battle with Ravana. 🚂 By Train: Take a train from Colombo Fort to Chilaw. Then catch a tuk - tuk to the temple.

🚗 By Car / Taxi: You can drive along the main road towards Chilaw. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic.
