Shrine of Our Lady of Madhu

The Shrine of Our Lady of Madhu is the holiest Catholic church in Sri Lanka. It is located in the Mannar District, deep in the jungle area. This shrine is more than 400 years old. It is famous for the miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary, known as “Our Lady of Madhu.” People of all religions—Catholics, Buddhists, Hindus, and Muslims—visit this holy place to pray for healing and protection.

🚂 By Train: You can take a train from Colombo to the Madhu Road Railway Station. From the station, it is about 12 km to the shrine. You can take a bus or tuk-tuk from there.

🚌 From Mannar: It is about a 1-hour drive from Mannar town.
