Vaarana Rajamaha Viharaya is a very old and beautiful cave temple located in the Gampaha district, near Yakkala. This temple has a history that goes back over 2,000 years! It was built inside natural rock caves. Legend says that King Walagamba used these caves as a hiding place when he was fighting against invaders. The temple is built on three different levels on a hillside, surrounded by big trees and peaceful nature.

➡️Ancient Inscriptions: You can find old “Brahmi” writings on the rock drip – ledges, which prove how old this place really is.
✅Climb to the Top: Walk up the stone steps to reach the highest point of the rock for a great view.
✅Worship at the Caves: Visit each level to see the statues and the ancient paintings on the cave ceilings.
✅Feed the Fish: There is a small, calm pond near the entrance where you can sometimes see fish.
✅Explore the Jungle Path: Walk around the base of the rock to see smaller caves that were used by monks in the past.
🚗From Colombo: Take the main Colombo-Kandy Road.
🚗The Turn-off: When you reach Yakkala or Thihariya, turn towards the Kirindiwela road.

වාරණ රජමහා විහාරය කියන්නේ ගම්පහ දිස්ත්රික්කයේ, යක්කල ප්රදේශයට ආසන්නව පිහිටා තිබෙන ඉතාමත් පැරණි සහ සුන්දර ලෙන් විහාරයක්. මෙහි ඉතිහාසය වසර 2,000කට වඩා ඈතට දිව යනවා. ස්වාභාවික ගල් ගුහා ආශ්රිතව නිර්මාණය කර ඇති මෙම විහාරය, වටපිටාවේ ඇති විශාල ගස් සහ නිසල පරිසරය නිසා ඉතාමත් මනරම් ස්ථානයක්.

➡️වළගම්බා රජතුමා: මෙම විහාරයේ ඉතිහාසයට වැඩිපුරම සම්බන්ධ වන්නේ වළගම්බා රජතුමායි. එතුමා සතුරන්ගෙන් ආරක්ෂා වීමට මෙම ලෙන් භාවිතා කළ බව පැවසෙනවා.
➡️සැතපෙන බුදු පිළිමය: ප්රධාන ලෙන තුළ ඉතාමත් අලංකාර විශාල සැතපෙන බුදු පිළිමයක් දැකගත හැකියි.
➡️සෙල් ලිපි: මෙම පර්වතයේ ඇති කටාරම් කෙටූ ලෙන් වල ඉතා පැරණි බ්රාහ්මී අක්ෂර සහිත සෙල් ලිපි අදටත් දකින්නට ලැබෙනවා.
✅පර්වතය නැගීම: ගල් පඩි පෙළ දිගේ ඉහළටම ගොස් අවට පරිසරයේ සුන්දරත්වය නැරඹීම.
✅වන්දනාමාන කිරීම: මට්ටම් තුනේම ඇති විහාර මන්දිර වැඳපුදා ගැනීම සහ පැරණි සිතුවම් නැරඹීම.
✅මාළුන්ට කෑම දීම: විහාරය ඇතුල් වන තැන ඇති පොකුණේ ඉන්න මාළුන්ට කෑම දීමට ඔබට පුළුවන්.
✅ලෙන් ගවේෂණය: අතීතයේ භික්ෂූන් වහන්සේලා වැඩසිටි කුඩා ලෙන් පර්වතය වටා ඇවිදිමින් නිරීක්ෂණය කිරීම.
🚌කොළඹ සිට: කොළඹ-නුවර ප්රධාන පාරේ යක්කල හන්දියට පැමිණෙන්න.
🚗මාර්ගය: යක්කල හන්දියෙන් කිරිඳිවැල පාරේ කිලෝමීටර් 5ක් පමණ ගිය විට වාරණ හන්දිය හමුවේ.
🚗ප්රවාහනය: පෞද්ගලික වාහනයකින් හෝ යක්කල සිට කිරිඳිවැල දෙසට යන ඕනෑම බස් රථයකින් මෙතැනට පහසුවෙන් එන්න පුළුවන්.
➕අතීත රජ දවසට ගියා වැනි අපූරු ඓතිහාසික හැඟීමක් ලැබීම.
➕ගල් ගුහා තුළ ඇති සිසිලස සහ නැවුම් වාතය නිසා සිතට ලැබෙන සහනය.
➕නුවර පාරේ යන ගමනකදී විනාඩි කිහිපයකට හෝ ගතට සහ සිතට විවේකයක් ලබා ගැනීමට හැකිවීම.
⚠️ඇඳුම: පූජනීය ස්ථානයක් බැවින් ශරීරය වැසෙන සුදු හෝ ලා පැහැති සංවර ඇඳුමකින් සැරසෙන්න.
⚠️ආරක්ෂාව: ගල් පඩි පෙළවල් වැසි දිනවලට ලිස්සන සුළු විය හැකි නිසා ප්රවේශමෙන් ගමන් කරන්න.
⚠️වඳුරන්: විහාරය අවට වඳුරන් ගැවසෙන නිසා ඔබේ බෑග් සහ කෑම බීම ගැන සැලකිලිමත් වෙන්න.
⚠️නිහඬ බව: මෙය භාවනායෝගී භික්ෂූන් වහන්සේලා වැඩ වසන තැනක් නිසා ශබ්ද නොකර සංවරව හැසිරෙන්න.
