Eagle’s Rock is a stunning hidden gem located near Haputale in the hill country of Sri Lanka. It is a massive rock cliff that sits high above the clouds, offering a panoramic view of the deep valleys and green mountains below. Because it is tucked away inside the Thangamale Bird Sanctuary, it feels very quiet and peaceful. Unlike some of the bigger tourist spots, this place is perfect for people who want to escape the crowds and enjoy nature in its purest form.

↔️ Peace and Quiet: It is much less crowded than Ella Rock or Little Adam’s Peak.

↔️ Easy Adventure: The walk to the rock is scenic and not too difficult for most people.
The rock is located within a protected forest area. It is very close to the famous Adisham Bungalow, a beautiful old monastery built by a British settler. Many people combine a visit to the bungalow with a hike to Eagle’s Rock. The weather here can change very fast; one minute it is sunny, and the next, you are surrounded by thick white mist.

🚂 By Train: Take the train to Haputale Railway Station. This is one of the most beautiful train rides in the world.
🛺 By Tuk-Tuk: From Haputale town, take a 15-minute tuk-tuk ride toward Adisham Bungalow.
🚶 On Foot: From the gate of Adisham Bungalow, follow the walking trail through the forest. It takes about 30 to 45 minutes to reach the rock.
Visiting Eagle’s Rock feels like standing on the edge of the world. You will experience the cool mountain breeze on your face and the sound of the wind whistling through the trees. It is a very grounding experience where you can sit silently and watch the clouds move across the valley. It’s a great place for deep thinking or just relaxing with friends.
⚠️ Stay Away from the Edge: There are no railings or fences. The drop is very steep, so be extremely careful, especially if it is windy.
⚠️ Watch for Leeches: Since you are walking through a forest sanctuary, there might be leeches, especially after rain. Wear long socks or use lime/salt.
⚠️ Bring a Jacket: Even if it is hot in the town, it can get very cold and windy at the viewpoint.
⚠️ Carry Water: There are no shops or cafes once you start the forest trail.
Eagle’s Rock View Point is a must-visit for anyone traveling to the Sri Lankan hills. It offers some of the best views in the country without the noise of many tourists. If you love fresh air, green forests, and a bit of adventure, you will love this place.
ඊගල්ස් රොක් කියන්නේ ශ්රී ලංකාවේ කඳුකරයේ හපුතලේ නගරය කිට්ටුව තියෙන හරිම ලස්සන, ඒ වගේම හැංගිච්ච තැනක්. මේක තියෙන්නේ තංගමලේ කුරුළු අභයභූමිය ඇතුළේ. මීදුමෙන් වැහුණු කඳු පන්ති සහ ගැඹුරු හෙල් මේ ගල මුදුනට හරිම අපූරුවට පේනවා. වැඩි සද්ද බද්දයක් නැති, හිතට නිදහසක් දෙන තැනක් හොයන කෙනෙක්ට මේක කියාපු තැන.
🍃 සුපිරි දර්ශනයක්: අහස පැහැදිලි දවසට ලංකාවේ දකුණු මුහුදු වෙරළ දක්වාම ඈතට පේනවා.
🍃 නිදහස: ඇල්ල වගේ ගොඩක් සෙනඟ ගැවසෙන තැන් වලට වඩා මේක හරිම නිස්කලංකයි.
🍃 ස්වභාවධර්මය: අහසේ පාවෙන රාජාලියන් සහ ලස්සන කුරුල්ලන් කිට්ටුවෙන්ම බලාගන්න පුළුවන්.
🍃 ලේසි ගමනක්: කන්ද උඩට යන පාර හරිම ලස්සනයි වගේම ඕනෑම කෙනෙක්ට පහසුවෙන් යන්න පුළුවන්.
මේ ගල පිහිටලා තියෙන්නේ රජයේ ආරක්ෂිත වනාන්තරයක් ඇතුළේ. ප්රසිද්ධ ඇඩිෂම් බංගලාව තියෙන්නෙත් මේ කිට්ටුවමයි. ගොඩක් අය ඇඩිෂම් බංගලාව බලන්න ඇවිත් තමයි ඊගල්ස් රොක් යන්නෙත්. මෙහේ කාලගුණය හරිම ඉක්මනට වෙනස් වෙනවා; එක වෙලාවකට හොඳට ඉර පායලා තියෙද්දී තව වෙලාවකින් මුළු පැත්තම මීදුමෙන් වැහිලා යනවා.
⭐ ඡායාරූප ගැනීම: කන්ද කෙළවරේ ඉඳන් ලස්සන ෆොටෝ ගන්න පුළුවන් (හැබැයි පරිස්සමෙන්!).
⭐ විනෝද චාරිකා: පොඩි කෑමක් අරන් ගිහින් කඳු දිහා බලාගෙන කන්න පුළුවන්.
⭐ කුරුල්ලන් නැරඹීම: අභයභූමියේ ඉන්න දුර්ලභ කුරුල්ලන් බලන්න කියාපු තැන.
⭐ ඇවිදීම: පයින් ගස් සහ යුකැලිප්ටස් වනාන්තරය මැදින් ලස්සන හයිකින් අත්දැකීමක් ගන්න.
🚂 කෝච්චියෙන්: මුලින්ම කෝච්චියෙන් හපුතලේ ස්ටේෂන් එකට එන්න. මේ ගමන හරිම ලස්සනයි.
🛺 ත්රීවීල් එකකින්: හපුතලේ නගරයේ ඉඳන් ඇඩිෂම් බංගලාව පැත්තට විනාඩි 15ක වගේ ගමනක් තියෙන්නේ.
🚶 පයින්: ඇඩිෂම් බංගලාව ගේට්ටුව ළඟ ඉඳන් කැලේ මැදින් තියෙන පාරේ විනාඩි 30-45ක් වගේ ඇවිදගෙන යනකොට මේ තැනට හම්බවෙනවා.
ඊගල්ස් රොක් උඩට ගියාම හරියට ලෝකයේ කෙළවරක ඉන්නවා වගේ දැනේවි. හීතල හුළඟ ඇඟේ වදිනකොට, වලාකුළු කඳු අතරින් පාවෙලා යනවා බලාගෙන ඉන්න එක පුදුම සහනයක්. තනියම හිතන්න හෝ යාළුවන් එක්ක නිදහසේ කතා කර කර ඉන්න මේක මරු තැනක්.
⚠️ කෙළවරට යන්න එපා: ගල කෙළවරේ වැටවල් මොකුත් නෑ. ඒ නිසා ගොඩක් පරිස්සම් වෙන්න, විශේෂයෙන් හුළඟ තදින් තියෙන වෙලාවට.
⚠️ කූඩැල්ලන්ගෙන් ප්රවේශම් වන්න: වනාන්තරය මැදින් යන නිසා කූඩැල්ලෝ ඉන්න පුළුවන්. ඒ නිසා ලුණු හෝ දෙහි ටිකක් අරන් යන්න.
⚠️ ඇඳුම්: නගරය රස්නය වුණත් කන්ද උඩ හරිම හීතලයි. ඒ නිසා ජැකට් එකක් අරන් යන්න අමතක කරන්න එපා.
⚠️ වතුර අරන් යන්න: ඇවිදින්න පටන් ගත්තට පස්සේ වතුර ගන්න කඩවල් මුකුත් නෑ.
හපුතලේ පැත්තේ යනවා නම් ඊගල්ස් රොක් කියන්නේ අනිවාර්යයෙන්ම යා යුතු තැනක්. ලොකු සෙනඟක් නැතුව, සොබාදහමේ සැබෑ අසිරිය විඳින්න කැමති අයට මේක හොඳම තේරීමක්.
