Deegawapiya Stupa

Deegawapiya is an ancient and highly sacred Buddhist temple located in the Ampara District of the Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. It is famously known as one of the “Solosmasthana” (the 16 most sacred places in the country). Because it is believed that Lord Buddha visited this site during his third visit to the island. Built in the 3rd century BCE by King Saddhatissa, this massive stupa stands as a symbol of our rich spiritual history.
