Hathmale Falls (also known as Sathmale Ella) is a stunning waterfall located in the Matara District, near Deniyaya. It is about 45 meters high and 10 meters wide. This waterfall is very special because the water flows down in seven distinct layers or segments. It is the tallest waterfall that flows into the Ginganga River.

🚗 Travel to Deniyaya Town in the Matara district.
🚗 Take the Deniyaya-Pallegama Road for about 7 km.
🚗 Look for the Hathmale Ella Road sign on the right side (just before the Pallegama Bridge).
🚗 Follow this road for about 1 km. It ends near a private garden.
🚗 From there, you can walk or use a 4WD vehicle for the last 250 meters before climbing down to the falls.
Visitors will feel a sense of calm and wonder. The mist from the falling water and the sound of the seven layers crashing down create a very relaxing atmosphere. It feels like a hidden gem tucked away from the busy city life.

⚠️ Wear Good Shoes: The path down to the falls can be very steep and slippery.
⚠️ Vehicle Choice: The final stretch of road is rough. A vehicle with high ground clearance (like a 4WD or SUV) is best.

මාතර දිස්ත්රික්කයේ දෙනියාය ප්රදේශයේ පිහිටා ඇති හත්මලේ ඇල්ල (සත්මලේ ඇල්ල ලෙසත් හඳුන්වයි) ඉතාමත් මනරම් දිය ඇල්ලකි. මෙහි උස මීටර් 45ක් පමණ වන අතර පළල මීටර් 10ක් පමණ වේ. ගිං ගඟට ජලය සපයන උසම දිය ඇල්ල වන්නේද මෙයයි. මෙහි ඇති විශේෂත්වය වන්නේ දිය ඇල්ල කොටස් හතකට, හරියට මහල් හතක් වගේ පහළට ගලා හැලීමයි.
✅ සුවිශේෂී හැඩය: එක දිගට මහල් හතක් ලෙස ඇද හැලෙන දිය ඇල්ලක් දැකීම ඇත්තටම දුර්ලභ අත්දැකීමක්.
✅ ස්වභාවධර්මයේ නිහඬතාව: අවට ඇති ඝන වනාන්තරය නිසා ඉතාමත් නිදහස් පරිසරයක් මෙහි තිබෙනවා.
✅ ඡායාරූප ගැනීමට: දකුණු පළාතේ ඡායාරූප ගැනීමට සුදුසුම සහ ලස්සනම තැනක් ලෙස මෙය හඳුන්වන්න පුළුවන්.
↔️ ජල මූලාශ්රය: දෙනියාය ගොංගාල කන්දෙන් ආරම්භ වන දිය දහරාවකින් තමයි මේ ඇල්ල නිර්මාණය වෙන්නේ.
↔️ සම්බන්ධ වන ගඟ: මේ දිය ඇල්ල පල්ලේගම ප්රදේශයේදී ගිං ගඟට එකතු වෙනවා.
↔️ ගම්භීර බව: මීටර් 45ක් උස නිසා වැසි කාලයට ඉතාමත් ප්රවේගයෙන් ජලය ගලා බසිනවා.

🚗 මුලින්ම මාතර දිස්ත්රික්කයේ දෙනියාය නගරයට පැමිණෙන්න.
🚗 දෙනියාය සිට පල්ලේගම පාරේ කිලෝමීටර් 7ක් පමණ යන්න.
🚗 පල්ලේගම පාලමට මීටර් කිහිපයකට කලින් දකුණු පැත්තට ඇති “හත්මලේ ඇල්ල පාර” දිගේ ඇතුළට යන්න.
🚗 එම පාරේ කිලෝමීටර් 1ක් පමණ ගිය විට වාහන නැවැත්විය හැකි තැනක් හමුවේ.
🚗 එතැන් සිට මීටර් 250ක් පමණ පයින් පහළට බැසිය යුතුයි.
මෙහි යන ඔබට දැනෙන්නේ හිතට මහා ලොකු සැහැල්ලුවක්. දිය ඇල්ලෙන් විසිවන සියුම් දිය බිංදුත්, දිය ඇල්ලේ රිද්මයත් නිසා මුළු ගතම සිසිල් වෙනවා. නගරයේ කලබලයෙන් මිදිලා, සොබාදහමට ගොඩක් සමීප වුණු හැඟීමක් ඔබට අනිවාර්යයෙන්ම දැනේවි.
⚠️ පරිසරය සුරකින්න: ප්ලාස්ටික්, පොලිතින් හෝ කිසිදු කුණු වර්ගයක් එතැන දමා එන්න එපා.
⚠️ පාවහන්: ඇල්ල පාමුලට යන පාර ලිස්සන සුළු නිසා හොඳින් ග්රහණය වන පාවහන් පාවිච්චි කරන්න.
⚠️ වාහන: අවසාන මීටර් කිහිපය පාර ටිකක් රළු නිසා උස වාහනයකින් (4WD වැනි) යාම වඩාත් සුදුසුයි.
⚠️ අනතුරු ඇඟවීම: වැසි කාලයට ජල මට්ටම ක්ෂණිකව වැඩි විය හැකි නිසා දිය ඇල්ලට බැසීමේදී වඩාත් කල්පනාකාරී වන්න.
දෙනියාය පැත්තේ යනවා නම් හත්මලේ ඇල්ල කියන්නේ අනිවාර්යයෙන්ම යා යුතු තැනක්. එහි ඇති අමුතුම හැඩය සහ නිහඬ බව ඔබේ සංචාරයට අලුත් අත්දැකීමක් එක් කරාවි. පරිසරයට ආදරය කරමින් මේ සුන්දරත්වය විඳගන්න අමතක කරන්න එපා!
